NWE String Trio

The NWE String Trio comprises of principal players from the ensemble and has elicited reviews such as "dazzling with their virtuosity", and "playing of clarity and precision with an alluring warmth of tone."

Andy Long   violin

Andy's playing has been described by the American Record Guide as having "Sensitivity, vigour and taste in equal proportions". He is the director of the NWE and Associate Leader with the Orchestra of Opera North.

He has performed as a soloist in Britain and throughout Europe and is well known for his amiable performance manner and for introducing the music in an informal but informative way.

Katie Stables   viola
Katie studied with the acclaimed violist Roger Bigley winning the Cecil Aronowitz Prize for viola.
She took up the post of co-principal viola with the Orchestra do Algarve before returning to pursue a busy freelance career with orchestras and ensembles throughout the UK. 
Katie is the Principal viola of the NWE.
Zöe Long   Cello
On completing her studies with Prof. Stefan Popov Zöe immediately embarked on a busy freelance career performing with most of the major British orchestras.
She then took a position as Co-Principal cello in Portugal with the Orchestra do Nord before returning to England to take up a post with the Manchester Camerata.
She is now a member of the Orchestra of Opera North, and Principal cello with the NWE.
